Thierry Henry has thanked a new “generation” of Arsenal title-winners for giving his children a Premier League success to savour.
Mikel Arteta’s side have ended a 22-year wait for a top-flight title after being confirmed as champions by Manchester City’s draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
The news sparked jubilant scenes in north London after a long-awaited success, with Henry part of the last title-winning squad in 2004.
That Premier League crown achieved by the “Invincibles” was the Frenchman’s second in a golden period for the club around the turn of the century. It came before, however, Henry welcomed his first child in 2005, and the move to the Emirates Stadium from Highbury a year later.
Henry remains closely tied to a club he returned to on loan later in his career, and is delighted to have new company as an Arsenal title winner.
“From Highbury seats to the Emirates - Arsenal nation, finally we can celebrate,” Henry posted on Instagram.
“Special thanks to this generation - finally now my kids saw us winning the league.”
Arsene Wenger, who oversaw those two titles, also featured in a celebratory post from the club.
“You did it,” the former Arsenal manager said. “Champions go on when others stop. This is your time. Now, go on and enjoy every moment.”
