Things are going smoothly for Bayern Munich, who sit 11 points clear in the Bundesliga, have qualified for the DFB-Pokal semi-finals and hammered Atalanta 6-1 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

According to Bayern and Germany legend Oliver Kahn, the German champions are currently the best team in Europe.

"I have rarely seen FC Bayern this strong as they are right now — not only in the Bundesliga, but also internationally. The team plays almost like clockwork,” Kahn said on the Sky program “Triple – den Hagedorn-Fußballtalk.”

“I wouldn’t go so far as to say that FC Bayern will easily win the Champions League – that’s not the case. But right now, for me, they are the best team in Europe in terms of the way they play football," he continued.

One of the key reasons behind Bayern's success this season, according to the 56-year-old, is their squad depth.

“There is an indicator at FC Bayern that is very, very telling. Basically, you can field almost anyone from the squad and the quality barely drops – sometimes not at all. In the past, that was always a sign that it would be a very successful season.”

Amid all the high praise, Kahn did offer a small note of caution, though.

“The only thing – and I’m always a fan of resistance and challenges – is that things are almost going too well at the moment. Maybe even a little too well; everything is going incredibly smoothly," Kahn said.
