This Could Be Röhl’s Defining Night as Rangers Travel to Hibs

Danny Röhl has had two matches in charge of Rangers. A terrible defeat and a decent win. It is, at best, a mixed bag. Naturally, you shouldn’t judge a man after two matches. And we’re sure the Give Him a Chance FFS crew would be very ardent about giving him time amid Danny Rohl Hibs match.

However, the fact remains that Rangers are a results-yesterday-please business. Rangers are a must-win whether you’ve just become the manager or been the manager for five years. It’s just the way it goes and always has.

A Dire Start, Then a Solid Win

Röhl’s first match, in Bergen of course, was dire. It was a mess. His second, obviously against Killie, was decent. A solid win. So the Give Him a Chance, Give Him Time FFS crew are obviously losing the plot with joy over him beating a very poor Kilmarnock team.

Consequently, it is hard to really have any consistency when observing fellow fans’ reactions over various results at Ibrox. The Give Him a Chance crew will criticise criticism of poor results with “give him a chance”, and will then go over the top with joy for a victory in a match against a very poor team.

The Real Test Begins Now

The point that we are trying to make is that the real test begins at Easter Road. Röhl didn’t start well, not in Norway, and while Kilmarnock saw an improvement, there needs to be more.

Of course, we are well aware of the mentality of some Rangers fans now, who will excuse and defend absolutely anything, especially to do with a manager, whoever it may be. But the fact is, the next two matches are absolutely critical. They are where we judge our Rangers managers — the matches against Hibs, Celtic, and Aberdeen of course.

Hibs with that all-new rivalry as of 2015 onwards, and Celtic with that rivalry since 1888.

Everything to Prove, Everything to Lose

Consequently, Rangers fans are looking at a new coach who has everything to prove and everything to lose. We have already as good as lost the league. A win tonight at Easter Road would be a massive result, but anything less simply isn’t good enough.

And we’re sure that, as the moment stands, Röhl has all the goodwill, and any bad result will be blamed on Kevin Thelwell. That’s the way many are going at the moment. And we don’t entirely blame them in fairness, given how poor the sporting director’s summer was.

But at the end of the day, we’re judging the manager on the product on the pitch. And boy does he need to bring back three points in Danny Rohl Hibs match.
