Liverpool are enduring a difficult second season under Arne Slot.
The Dutch head coach got off to the best possible start at Anfield - winning the Premier League title in his first season in charge. But things have taken a dour turn this term - with the defending champions struggling for a place in the top five.
The 47-year-old saw his title-winning squad with £450m worth of new signings last summer but he has been unable to forge an identity.
Liverpool have already lost 10 league games this season - the most for a decade - and it has led to speculation over Slot’s future.
Richard Hughes brought the tactician in from Feyenoord back in 2024 - inking a deal until 2027. Talks over a new deal have reportedly been shelved pending a review of Slot’s performances at the end of the current campaign.
The FSG decision-makers may opt for a change in the dugout with Xabi Alonso now leading the chase to succeed Slot. It’s now been reported in the Netherlands that Liverpool will have to pay £9.5m (€11m) to dispense with Slot and his coaching team.
