Fabian Schar was back in action on Sunday.

His suspension lasting fully over four weeks thanks to the international break, following the Southampton cheat conning the match officials on the opening day of the season.

Fabian Schar returning at Molineux with an excellent performance and to top it off, the key equalising goals against Wolves.

No surprise it was a long range belter, we have seen it all before.

Whilst no surprise that a Fabian Schar goal coincided with a Newcastle United victory.

Fabian Schar scored on the opening day of the 2022/23 season when United beat Forest 2-0.

Then his four Premier League goals last season all came after the turn of the year, with two at Villa in that excellent 3-1 win in January 2024, a goal at Forest in the 3-2 February win, then another goal in the 4-0 over Spurs at St James’ Park in April.

As we all know, Fabian Schar is key to Newcastle United going forward, just like he is at the back. The goals he scores are often vital and so often the attacks are initiated by the Swiss defender playing it out and bringing it out from the back.

Fabian Schar speaking to BBC Newcastle after the 2-1 win at Wolves:

“It was massive [to win after going behind].

“When you are one nil down away from home after half-time and come back to win, it is always a great achievement.

“Big credit to the team.

“A Big win.

“I was hungry to play [after missing the past month] and desperate to be on the pitch again.

“It (the Harvey Barnes winner) was even better than mine.

“Great goal.

“I’m really pleased for him and the whole team.

“It has been a great start, we are happy with the first few games (the results).

“I think we know that we can perform a lot better.

“But most important are the results and I think that if we can improve the performances as well, we have lots to achieve.

“So, we can build on the first four, five games and keep going.”
