Thomas Bramall will take charge of Leeds United’s Premier League trip to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, his appointments around Leeds became a big talking point for Daniel Farke earlier this season.
It is Bramall’s first Leeds assignment since he oversaw the meeting with Palace at Elland Road earlier this season. He awarded the visitors a 90th-minute penalty, converted by Justin Devenny, in a 4-1 defeat for Palace.
He also refereed the Elland Road game against Spurs that ended 2-1 to the visitors, after which Farke declined to comment on the performance. The head coach said he would leave others to judge and noted that the last time Bramall handled Leeds it became a talking point and prompted a letter.
The match he was referencing was a 1-1 draw at Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road. Before that, Bramall’s only Leeds outing was their 5-2 FA Cup win over Cardiff City.
Across his four Leeds appointments, the Whites have won two, drawn one and lost one. This season he has shown 100 yellow cards in 25 matches, along with three reds, and awarded seven penalties.
Bramall’s team will include assistants Lee Betts and Matthew Wilkes, with Paul Tierney as fourth official. James Bell will be VAR, supported by Craig Taylor.
