Thomas Frank says he is concerned about the injury suffered by Lucas Bergvall in Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth.
Spurs were beaten for the eighth time this season in the Premier League as Antoine Semenyo struck late to win it for the Cherries in what could be his final game for the club.
Mathys Tel opened the scoring for Frank’s side on five minutes before Bournemouth went 2-1 up through Evanilson and Junior Kroupi.
Joao Palhinha thought he had snatched a point for Spurs, however, before Semenyo’s later winner ended Bournemouth’s run of 11 games without a win.
Bergvall, meanwhile, was forced off in the second and Frank says he is concerned.
“I don’t know exactly the update,” he said. “My initial thought is it’s probably not top with Lucas.
“He’s gone off for the second time in, what was it the Crystal Palace game where he went off I think it was? So yeah.”
Pressure continues to mount on Frank with Tottenham currently 14th in the Premier League table, but he says his side deserved more from their latest loss.
“I really like the character of the team,” he said. “The players gave everything.
“The second half, I think we were completely on top and kept going even through disappointment and small setbacks, like we’ve said before. I’ve worked very hard with the team on that.
“After the equaliser, I think we are closer to winning than Bournemouth are, with Micky’s header and other good opportunities. So to sit here after conceding in extra time is very painful, very tough, but that’s football.”
The Spurs boss was spotted before the game drinking out of a cup with the badge of fierce rivals Arsenal on it. Asked about why that was, Frank clarified that he had not noticed and that it there because of the Gunners’ clash at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
“It would be absolutely, completely stupid of me to take a cup with Arsenal on it,” he said. “Anyone thinking I’ve done that or the staff has done that, they’ve (Arsenal) been in the changing room before us and it’s normal to take a cup and have an espresso, I do that before every game.
“I think it’s actually a little bit sad in football that I need to be asked a question about that. I think we’re definitely going in the wrong direction if we need to worry about me having a cup with a logo of another club.
“Of course I would never do that (on purpose), that’s completely stupid.”
