Udogie limped off in the 55th-minute as 10-man Spurs fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

The Italian left-back has only just returned from a hamstring injury and with Cristian Romero set to miss the next four league games through suspension, Spurs are stretched for options in defence.

Asked about Udogie's injury, Frank said he would know more when he talks to the press on Monday, with the defender set to be assessed over the remainder of the weekend.

"We will assess him tomorrow. So, of course, I will probably see you guys in, what, two days' time or less, and then we'll know more. We'll assess him tomorrow," Frank said in his post-match press conference.

Asked by BBC Sport if he expected any of the 10 first-team players, who missed the Old Trafford trip, to return against Newcastle, Frank said: “Off the top of my head, no.”

Despite being down to 10-men and with Souza thrown in for his Premier League debut after Udogie’s withdrawal, Spurs restricted United amiably before Bruno Fernandes made the game safe late on.

Frank praised his side’s performance given the circumstances, but said they could not escape the fact they remain winless in the league since the turn of the year.

“I think with the players and what they are showing I think they are showing a lot of resilience because it’s very, very tough to get out there every week and not get enough of the good results,” Frank continued.

“But I think of course we can’t run away from that we haven’t won enough in the Premier League. We are just coming off the back of four good games where we also showed a lot of resilience. Before that we also did it but we didn’t get enough of the results where we turned it around in the second half.

“So I think there is still a lot to hang the hat on in terms of resilience but of course the performances need to be backed up with a little bit do more and a little bit doing the right things and then the results will turn.”
