Thomas Frank says Dominic Solanke is closing in on a return but will not be involved again this weekend when Spurs face Brighton.
Solanke has missed the last three games because of an ankle problem but has returned to training this week.
Frank says he will miss Saturday’s clash and the midweek cup tie against Doncaster, but he could be back involved after that.
“The positive thing is he’s back on the grass and has been there for three to four days,” Frank said.
“He’s progressing forward slowly but forward, I think that is positive.”

Ahead of their trip to Brighton, the Spurs boss also praised his captain Cristian Romero. “I think he’s a great character. He loves his football,” said the Dane.
“He’s like a boy sometimes, he loves playing out there with the boys. That’s a big thing, you need to love the game and he clearly does. When he trains he’s focused, he’s got that ability. Even with set pieces it can be stop start and a little bit boring but he’s focused, you can see it in his eyes.”
The Argentinian defender took over the captaincy this season and has risen to the role so far. Defensive frailties plagued Spurs last season but that has not been the case this campaign. They have conceded just once in their opening four league fixtures, keeping three clean sheets in the process.
Frank continued: “I rate him super high. I agree that I think he’s one of the best centre-backs in the world right now.
“Clearly it helps when you’ve won the World Cup, Copa America and Europa League. The best they are performing consistently week in, week out, year in, year out.
“Of course I don’t know Cuti inside out, because I’ve only been here for three months. But of course I’ve followed him over the years. I definitely see a more mature player and person. I’m not saying it happened in the last three months, he was also very good last year.
“He’s aggressive when he needs to be aggressive and cool and composed when he needs to be.”
