Thomas Kaminski has played a role in Charlton Athletic keeping three clean sheets from their opening six Championship fixtures.

Nathan Jones’ side have proven tough to break down upon their return to the Championship, with the goalkeeper arriving as one of their summer signings.

The Belgium international has featured in all six second division fixtures so far this season, having arrived from Luton Town after their relegation to League One.

The Addicks will be pleased with their start to life back at this level, having earned wins over the likes of Watford and Sheffield United.

Kaminski will also be keen to ensure the London outfit remain hard to score against, with the club aiming to avoid any kind of relegation battle this year.

When asked how Kaminski has fared this season, Football League World's Charlton fan pundit, Sam White, has claimed that the jury is still out on his signing.

He believes that the defence have performed so well this season, to the point where the 32-year-old hasn’t had enough to do to determine how good of an addition to the club he’s been.

“I think the jury is still out on Thomas Kaminski at the minute,” White told Football League World.

“Just because, rightly or wrongly, when the defence is so solid and so tight, you don’t really tend to let a lot of play go through you in order to have the goalkeeper having to make saves, and obviously that’s backed up by the fact I think we’ve only let in five goals and three of them were in one game (vs QPR).

“So, we’ve done pretty well. I think he’s done alright in terms of commanding his box and whatnot.

“Again, we’re just so early into the season that the jury is still out, and it will be especially after last season and having so many clean sheets. Obviously, different league, different kettle of fish. I think he’s done well.

“Equally, having Will Mannion on the bench and in and around the first team, there is ample substitution and a replacement, if things do go wrong.”

Charlton are currently 12th in the Championship table, having earned eight points from their opening six fixtures.

The Addicks are back in the division for the first time since their 2020 relegation, so will be aiming to solidify their position at this level.

Jones has earned a lot of plaudits from supporters for his role in their promotion, with the London outfit clinching a play-off victory last season.

Next up for Charlton is a home clash against one of Kaminski’s former sides, Blackburn Rovers, on 27 September in a 3pm kick-off.

Thomas Kaminski will prove a smart signing for Charlton

Charlton have done well defensively so far this season, limiting their opponents to few great chances, and thus keeping Kaminski relatively quiet.

But the Belgian is a proven talent at this level, and he should prove himself as an excellent addition to the side over the course of the season.

Clean sheets are a team effort, but three from six is still a very good record for the Addicks and Kaminski after six games.

As per FotMob, he's also yet to make a direct error that has led to a goal being conceded, but is currently sitting on a save percentage of 64.3 per cent, which currently ranks him among the bottom 39.3 percentile of second tier goalkeepers so far this season.

He has, however, only been forced into making nine saves in six Championship games so far this term, which shows just how little he's truly been tested and explains why the jury is still out on him, as well as painting a clear picture of how excellent his defensive unit has been in front of him.

If they can keep this up, then remaining out of the relegation fight is a distinct possibility.
