Eddie Howe earlier this morning had his pre-Brentford press conference and said that whilst they don’t think it is a serious issue, Anthony Gordon could miss Sunday’s match at Brentford and they are sending him for scans on his hip just to check there is nothing longer-term to worry about. So it remains to be seen whether he will indeed remain part of this England squad.

Thomas Tuchel has now reassured Newcastle United about Anthony Gordon, talking after his latest England squad was announced:

“Anthony Gordon is very important.

“He gives us intensity, hunger.

“A physical input that is very rare to find.

“He helps us to build team identity, to be an intense and hard working team.

“We are aware of the minor discomfort in his hip and w are in close contract with the medical staff at Newcastle United.

“We decided to call him up and there is still a chance he is involved on Sunday [for Newcastle United at Brentford] and so we have a chance he will [still] come to [this England] camp.

“We will take care of Anthony Gordon, we won’t take any unnecessary risk”

The England squad (see below) was announced at 10am on Friday – Official announcement from The FA:

England sealed their place at next summer’s tournament in North America last month following their 5-0 victory over Latvia in Riga, and Tuchel will now be looking to finish with a flourish and fine-tune his team with the remaining games this year.
