Max Dowman is being considered for a place in England’s World Cup 2026 squad.

Dowman created history earlier this month when he became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history (16 years and 73 days) in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton.

And the mercurial talent could complete a meteoric rise by featuring on football’s biggest stage this summer as the Three Lions contend for glory in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“He put himself in the spotlight, amazing goal against Everton, crucial goal, he's competing, an outstanding talent for his age,” Tuchel said after naming a 35-man squad for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

“There cannot be a doubt about it. Everyone who tells me about Max praises him, but the reality is that he competes for minutes; he's not a starter. He's in the best environment possible. He learns from the very best in the best environment, where teamwork is the No 1 rule.

“With these young guys, we know these players, we see them. At the moment, he's in a good place to fight for his position and minutes at Arsenal.

“We have the chance to call him up for the World Cup. We want to keep their excitement, their level of fearlessness. No need to call him up now and increase the noise that comes with it but we have a lot of options.”
