After a disappointing defeat to Bochum and a goalless draw with Sporting during the week, Borussia Dortmund finally put on a good performance with lots of positives. The Black-and-Yellows managed to hit six goals past Union, a result that very few Dortmund fans would've expected heading into the encounter.

An own goal by Diogo Leite opened the scoring for the hosts before Serhou Guirassy grabbed a super hat-trick, with Maximilian Beier getting on the scoresheet late in the game.
