Thunderstorms moved around Hard Rock Stadium less than three hours before France v England, scheduled for 11pm in Miami. The forecast suggests improvement, but lightning could halt proceedings.

According to L'Équipe, thunder was audible near the venue and storms continued to circle the area. Under the protocol, any strike within a 10-kilometre radius during the warm-up or match would force teams and fans to shelter for 30 minutes, with the countdown restarting after each new flash.

France had already encountered Florida's weather on Friday, when their eve-of-match training was pushed back by a few minutes because of the same protocol.

Current forecasts do not point to a repeat of France v Iraq, the 3-0 in which half-time lasted two hours 12 minutes instead of 15.

Around two and a half hours before kick-off the temperature was about 30C, with humidity above 70%. Overcast skies still promised testing conditions.
