Maybe surprisingly, Tim Krul going on to make slightly more (163) appearances for Norwich City than he did for Newcastle United (160).

Back in 2017, Tim Krul made a similarly emotional public statement (also see below) to the Newcastle United fans when leaving after 11 years. Joining Brighton but not given a chance there, only used as back up.

Tim Krul gave great service to Newcastle United and that 1-0 win at Spurs in particular was incredible, the number of saves he made that day.

Best of luck to him now as he moves on from playing.

Tim Krul via his personal social media – 23 September 2025:

“As I hang up my gloves after 20 incredible years as a professional football player, I want to take a moment to reflect on my journey.

“From joining Newcastle as a 17 year old boy, to representing Holland on the international stage.

“I have truly lived the dream I had as a young boy every match, every training session, and every rollercoaster moment has shaped me into who I am today.

“Thank you to the clubs, coaches, team mates, my beautiful family, and most importantly you fans for your support throughout my career.

“I am excited for the next chapter and will always cherish the memories made on the pitch.

“Here’s to new adventures off the pitch!

“Thank You.”
