FLW's Blackburn fan pundit has given his verdict on the signing of Jayden Fevrier

Blackburn Rovers will be aiming to climb the Championship table under Tony Mowbray next season.

The Lancashire outfit narrowly avoided the drop in 2025/26, coming 20th in the table, just five points clear of the bottom three.

Mowbray has returned to take over at Ewood Park, coming back to the club four years after the end of his first stint as head coach.

The 62-year-old has replaced Michael O’Neill in the dugout, and has overseen the signing of Jayden Fevrier from Stockport County.

Blackburn also completed a permanent deal for Moussa Baradji, who joined the club on loan last season.

Rovers have until 1 September to complete any remaining transfers before the market shuts for the rest of the calendar year.

When asked about the signing of Fevrier, FLW’s Blackburn fan pundit claimed that Mowbray’s track record of finding something from players could work wonders with the winger.

He believes that, at 23, the former Charlton Athletic loanee has the potential to be a useful asset for Rovers, and that he trusts Mowbray to make it work for the club.

“It’s a bit of a weird one,” Middlehurst told Football League World.

“Tony Mowbray does have a habit of finding these little gems and turning them into something.

“So it’ll be interesting to see.

“From what Charlton fans have said, he does show signs of promise.

“He can also play either at right-wing or right-wing-back, so there’s options there for him as well.

“It’ll be interesting to see; he is only 23-years-old as well, so he has still got time to develop and improve, etc.

“So it’ll be interesting to see, but hopefully Tony Mowbray can get something out of him that others haven’t been able to see so far.”

Fevrier spent the second half of last season on loan with Charlton, where he made 11 appearances in the Championship, including four starts.

The 23-year-old contributed two goals for Nathan Jones’ side, helping the Addicks finish 19th, just above Blackburn in the table.

It’s been reported that Blackburn spent £500,000 to sign Fevrier from Stockport following the conclusion of his loan spell with Charlton.

The Addicks opted not to pursue a permanent deal, which opened the door for the Lancashire outfit to swoop.

Fevrier had entered the final 12 months of his deal with the League One side, meaning they had little choice but to cash in as they risked losing him for nothing in 2027 otherwise.

It remains to be seen what other business Blackburn will complete between now and the end of the transfer window, with just over four weeks remaining.

Mowbray will be keen to bolster his squad further in order to boost the team’s chances of climbing the Championship table.

The experienced coach led Blackburn to 15th, 11th, 15th and eighth place finishes after he led the club to promotion from League One during his first stint in charge at Ewood Park.

It will raise eyebrows at Charlton that Blackburn have opted to sign Fevrier after his loan spell at the Valley.

The Addicks got a great look at what he can do during the second half of last season, and it is notable that they opted to let him return to Stockport without pursuing a permanent move.

Blackburn will have trust in their own scouting operation, but supporters will have every reason to be sceptical that this is a good signing.
