Tottenham are reportedly considering hiring a manager with a completely different tactical approach in the form of Xavi Hernandez.
Spurs have just parted ways with Igor Tudor after a disastrous spell as interim manager, which ended up lasting just 44 days.
The Spanish tactician has been out of work for some time, but previously impressed in a spell at Barca, winning La Liga to add to a long list of trophies he collected during his playing career.
Xavi also looks like he could still have a fine career in management, with Fichajes noting his possession-based and high-pressing game.
Tottenham had to make a change from Tudor after such an awful start, with the Croatian tactician somehow managing to take the team even lower than they were under Thomas Frank.
Relegation is now a very real threat for the north London side, so it could be tricky convincing a big name to take the job at this stage of the season.
Xavi is someone who would surely rather wait and see if Spurs are still in the Premier League next season, while he’d also benefit from having a full pre-season with the squad.
Taking over now would really represent being thrown in at the deep end, even for the best manager, so it looks like it might be tricky for THFC to convince their top targets to take the job.
Former Brighton and Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi is a leading candidate, according to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, but Spurs are facing precisely that problem with him as he’d prefer to wait until the summer to choose his next club.
