Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a sensational swoop for Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer.

According to Italian news publication Tuttosport, Tottenham are weighing up a £50 million (€58m) move for the Brazilian this summer. Spurs could throw in Guglielmo Vicario to sweeten the deal.

They are looking to reinforce a severely depleted squad that could be further whittled down with several players expected to leave this summer.

Reinforcing the backline is a priority, especially with skipper Cristian Romero reportedly willing to ‘do everything possible’ to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

There has been growing unrest between Romero and the Tottenham fans.

However, things took a turn for the worse when he decided to travel to Argentina while recovering from injury rather than sticking around for Spurs’ must-win final Premier League fixture against Everton.

Romero has repeatedly hinted at a summer exit, openly admitting his love for La Liga, which has further fuelled the already increasing speculation surrounding his future.

Atletico Madrid have already made a move for Romero. He has also been linked with Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old still has three years left on his Tottenham contract but may have played his last game for the club before picking up an injury in the closing stages of last season.

Romero’s future will likely be sorted after the World Cup, but Spurs are already taking proactive measures to have a replacement in place.

Tottenham have already made two signings, bringing in former Bournemouth and Liverpool stars Marcos Senesi and Andrew Robertson.

Bremer would be a shrewd addition for Tottenham, but they must match Juventus’ asking price to get a deal over the line this summer.

Their £50m asking price will do little to ward off Tottenham, who are ready to attack the summer transfer window with a massive warchest.
