Manchester City may yet brace themselves for a battle to sign Brazilian international forward Savinho, amid interest from both the Premier League and Serie A.

The 22-year-old has formally told City he wants to leave this summer, having found first-team opportunities limited amid competition from Antoine Semenyo, and his employers are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £60 million plus add-ons.

Tottenham have been the most consistent name linked throughout the uncertainty surrounding the player, having first tracked Savinho last summer and retaining that interest under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Juventus‘ emergence in the race adds a new dimension as the Italian club monitor the winger market, particularly with an eye on the possibility of one of their existing wide players departing before the window closes.

That is according to the information of Italian newspaper TuttoMercatoWeb, who point out that Juventus have been tied with interest in Manchester City’s Savinho, particularly in the event of one of their existing wingers leaving the club this summer.

It is explained that the Bianconeri are monitoring the market for wingers, ‘seeking opportunities that could improve their technical level’, and Savinho is said to be an attractive proposition due to his speed, dribbling, creativity, and ‘ability to create numerical superiority’.

However, it is pointed out that Tottenham currently appear to be making the most decisive move for the player having tracked him for several months, and they believe this could be the right opportunity to bring him to North London.

Juventus’ interest, as things stand, looks conditional rather than concrete, perhaps giving Tottenham further breathing room to press ahead, particularly if they can meet Manchester City’s valuation before Juventus’ situation becomes clearer.

Much may still depend on how quickly Manchester City move to identify a replacement, having already been credited with interest in alternative wide options this summer including the likes of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ibrahim Mbaye and Chelsea’s Pedro Neto.
