In a recent report, journalist Fraser Fletcher mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Aberdeen midfielder Cooper Masson, who is currently playing on loan at Kelty Hearts. It has been claimed that Spurs would have to compete with Manchester City in the race to acquire the services of the Scottish whizkid next year.
Masson is currently enjoying a good loan spell at Kelty Hearts, where he has already managed to shine as a central midfielder. The Scottish prospect has made eight senior appearances for them so far, picking up one assist in the process across all competitions.
The 16-year-old is among the best young midfielders in Scottish football. Thus, it makes sense for Tottenham to try and lure him to North London next year.
However, Masson is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting someone of his potential.

Masson is full of energy and running at the centre of the park. He usually works hard for his team defensively and can make some clever runs going forward. The gifted midfielder can even strike the ball well from long range.
The Scottish whizkid has also got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. However, there are some concerns over whether he would be able to cope with the high intensity of English football if Tottenham manage to sign him next year.
Masson would no doubt improve the quality of Tottenham’s midfield in the long run. At the moment, he would struggle to get into Spurs boss Thomas Frank’s match-day squad. However, the talented youngster has the potential to be a future star in English football.
At 16, Masson is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future and could prove himself to be a success story at the North London club in the long run. Hence, Frank should focus on trying everything in his power to win the race for his services this January or at the end of this campaign.
