In a recent report, The Sun claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in the running to land Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Chelsea and Newcastle United in the race to sign the Italian centre-back this summer.

Scalvini’s Impressive Rise In Serie A

Scalvini had an impressive campaign at the Italian club as he put in a string of solid performances for them on the defensive end of the field. The 22-year-old registered three goals and grabbed one assist in 30 appearances for Atalanta last season on all fronts.

The Italian talent is currently among the most gifted young centre-backs in his homeland. Therefore, it is no wonder that Tottenham are in the mix to sign him this off-season.

His current deal at Atalanta will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.

Will Scalvini Be A Good Option For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Scalvini is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and can use his strong 1.94m frame to win a few aerial duels for his team.

The Italian sensation can be a rock at the back and has proven himself to be a decent performer in Serie A. However, the jury is out on whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to get him on board later this year.
