In a recent post on X, journalist Ben Jacobs mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a keen eye on Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku. It has been stated that Spurs are showing interest in acquiring the services of the French forward this summer.

Nkunku’s Decent Season In English Football

The 27-year-old managed to impress at times for Chelsea in the Premier League last season. Nkunku found the back of the net on 14 occasions and earned five assists in 42 appearances for the Blues in the previous campaign across various competitions.

The French talent was a decent performer on the offensive end of the pitch and did well to average 2.44 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has also kept 44% of his attempts on target. Nkunku was tidy when distributing the ball in the opposition half based on his pass completion rate of 89.5% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

Nkunku’s current deal at the West London club will expire in the summer of 2029. Thus, Tottenham would have to make a convincing offer if they want to bring him on board this off-season.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Snap Nkunku Up This Summer?

Nkunku can find some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can be a streaky goal-scorer in the final third and can create the odd chance for others around him up top. The French talent is a good dribbler as well and can chip in by scoring his fair share of goals in the final third. He mainly plays as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager.

Nkunku would add more firepower to Tottenham’s attack. He has already got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life in North London.

The French forward is good enough to compete with Dominic Solanke for a regular first-team spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming seasons.

At 27, Nkunku is playing in his prime and could help Spurs challenge across all fronts in the future. Therefore, Tottenham should focus on trying everything in their power to lure the Chelsea forward to North London in this summer transfer window.
