Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a keen eye on Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo this summer. Romano said,

“In a separate story [to Savinho], because I expect Tottenham to sign two players, I would still keep an eye on Tottenham and Cody Gakpo, because he’s another player they like.

“So let’s see what is going to happen there, if Liverpool are going to open doors or not, but for sure, there will be many movements for wingers at Tottenham.”

Gakpo’s Impressive Form In English Football

Gakpo enjoyed a good run of form at the Merseyside club in the previous campaign when he put in a string of productive displays for them in the final third. The Dutch talent was involved in 52 matches for Liverpool last season, scoring nine times and picking up six assists on all fronts.

The 27-year-old is currently among the most talented wide players in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that Spurs are showing interest in recruiting him this summer.

His current contract at Anfield will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.

Will Gakpo Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Gakpo is a decent dribbler with the ball and can make some dangerous runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He can engineer some inviting chances for others around him in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Dutch sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. However, Gakpo has to find a way to be more consistent in front of the opponent’s goal. He is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as a centre-forward if required.

We can expect Gakpo to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
