Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Real Sociedad attacker Takefusa Kubo this summer, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club want to sign another forward alongside Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze before the end of the transfer window.

Spurs have identified AS Monaco attacker Maghnes Akliouche as an alternative to Manchester City’s Savinho due to the £60 million the Etihad Stadium club are demanding.

Kubo, a long-term target of the North London club, is also back on their radar, and he has a €60 million (£52m) release clause.

Diario AS claim ‘money isn’t an issue’ for Tottenham, but it remains to be seen whether a concrete move is on the cards for the Japan international.

Arsenal have also been linked with the 24-year-old Kubo this summer, but Spurs could now look to pip their bitter city rivals to his services.

The Barcelona academy graduate, who Real Madrid once signed, has 24 goals and 18 assists for Sociedad, and moving to the Premier League could appeal to him.

Kubo, once dubbed a ‘world-class player’, has the potential to become one of the best right wingers on the planet.

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank wants a replacement for Son Heung-Min, and while the younger Asian still has some years to go before matching the feats of the South Korean, he remains a top player.

Spurs need a player capable of generating commercial success for them in Asia following the departure of their former captain, and Kubo fits the bill.

Atletico Madrid are also keen on him, but they are unwilling to activate his release clause, which could be good news for the Lilywhites.

There are 13 days left in the summer transfer window and Tottenham need to act quickly if they want Kubo.

They have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Palace for Eze, and the Eagles must now find a replacement with the England international waiting to move and training as normal.
