Tottenham have been hit by a fresh injury blow after losing Kevin Danso ahead of Thursday’s crunch Europa League clash with AZ Alkmaar.

The centre-half suffered a muscle injury in as Spurs drew 2-2 with Bournemouth and has withdrawn from the Austria squad for their upcoming Nations League play-off with Serbia.

Danso has started seven straight matches since joining Spurs on loan in January, but he walked straight down the tunnel flanked by two members of the club's medical staff after playing 90 minutes against Bournemouth.

Reports have suggested Danso suffered a muscle problem against the Cherries and is now set for a spell on the sidelines, with Postecoglou expected to provide an update on the 26-year-old at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Losing the Austria international for a period would be a blow for Spurs, particularly with Radu Dragusin already sidelined for the season with a cruciate ligament tear.

However, both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven played their first league games in three months against Bournemouth and could start together for the first time since December 8 against AZ, who lead 1-0 from the first leg. Teenage midfield Archie Gray has also filled in at centre-half this season.

Ben Davies has also been absent but was among the players to train on Wednesday in front of the cameras, with the players wearing odd socks to mark upcoming World Down Syndrome Day on March 21.

Richarlison (calf) trained separately and Dejan Kulusevski (foot) missed the session, while Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended on Thursday after being booked in last week's first leg.
