Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bolster the squad before the close of the transfer window, and their radar has turned them towards Southampton teenage attacker Tyler Dibling.

The 18-year-old broke out of the Saints’ academy and has been turning heads in the Premier League with his dazzling performances. He was particularly exciting against Manchester United, drawing acclaim with his display.

One Sky Sports writer enthused, “The teenager looks absolutely fearless on the ball and is capable of moments of magic.”

The Saints have a trusted academy pipeline that has produced Premier League stars like Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, James Ward-Prowse, Adam Lallana, and Luke Shaw. Dibling looks next in line to take the league by storm.

Besides Tottenham, a host of clubs have shown interest in his services. Manchester United, RB Leipzig, Aston Villa and Chelsea are also in the running for his signature.

With a measly two goals and two big chances created in 20 Premier League appearances, he is still far from being the finished product. Any club signing him right now would be taking a massive punt on him developing into a world-beater.

Truthfully, he can do a job for Spurs, but spending north of £50 million on an unproven player is the kind of madness that should be left to west London rivals Chelsea.

Spurs need players who can push Ange Postecoglou’s side to titles and not more youngsters looking to prove their mettle.

Tottenham youngsters Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have performed commendably well this season, but they need more experienced heads around to show them the ropes.

Also, with 18 months left on his current deal, Tottenham can afford to wait at least six months. They can wait for the contract to wind down and Southampton to be relegated back to the Championship before swooping for Dibling.

At the moment, Spurs have more pressing needs in central defence, where they are paper-thin. They could also use midfield reinforcement, especially at the base, where Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma have been dreadful.
