Significant fears over the pair after being forced off during rare win
Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Xavi Simons will be assessed in the next few days after he was stretchered off with a knee injury during Tottenham’s 1-0 win away to Wolves.
Simons was replaced by Lucas Bergvall in the 63rd minute following lengthy treatment after appearing to jar his knee on the pitch.
The Dutch midfielder initially tried to carry on before quickly collapsing back to the ground and being carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
With just four games of the season left, Simons may not make another appearance for Spurs this season, while his World Cup hopes have been thrown into jeopardy.
Asked for an update on Simons’ fitness, De Zerbi said: “It's a problem with his knee. We will see in the next few days.
“I would like to know more about Xavi because you know the knee.
“He felt pain, but now I spoke with him and he feels better than when he got his injury.”

De Zerbi was more positive about Dominic Solanke’s fitness after the Spurs forward had to come off before half-time, having gone down off the ball.
Solanke has been blighted by injuries this term, having only returned from a recurring ankle issue earlier this year.
But while De Zerbi said he was unsure when the 28-year-old would return to fitness, he insisted it was “not a big problem”.
“Solanke (has) a muscular injury,” he confirmed, adding: “I don't know how many games we lose him.”
