Tottenham Hotspur’s board rejected two bids to buy the club and have insisted they will not consider a sale.
The announcement was made on Sunday after Daniel Levy left his role as the club’s chairman last week.
Levy held the position since 2001, but he was asked to leave by the club’s majority shareholders, the Lewis family.
It led to speculation that a takeover bid could be imminent, with former Newcastle United joint-owner Amanda Staveley linked with an interest in acquiring the club.
However, Tottenham’s board confirmed its owner has ‘unequivocally rejected’ two bids.
Levy was the Premier League’s longest-serving chairman. He was also the target of regular protests from the fans, who were unhappy with his approach of prioritising financial stability over on-field success.
Tottenham won the Europa League in May by beating Manchester United in the final, their first trophy in 17 years.
Manager Ange Postecoglou led the club to European success, but he was removed from his position by Levy in the summer.
Levy has now been dismissed, with the Lewis family agreeing it was time for a change to push for more success on the pitch.
