Sunderland are weighing a move for Schalke midfielder Soufiane El-Faouzi, while Tottenham are assessing a summer approach for goalkeeper Robin Roefs.
Sky Germany reports Sunderland are among several clubs tracking the 23-year-old, who has impressed in the Bundesliga this season. Brentford, Bologna and Celtic are also keen, and Rennes have been mentioned but are not expected to be his next destination.
Schalke are said to want to keep El-Faouzi, valued at about £10.5 million. He is comfortable at the club, staying in Gelsenkirchen remains possible and there have been no concrete talks with other sides during Schalke’s promotion push.
Football Insider reports Tottenham are considering a move for Roefs, should they retain their Premier League status. Spurs are searching for a new first-choice keeper, with James Trafford and Bart Verbruggen also on a shortlist.
Sunderland are expected to resist any sale after Roefs’ outstanding debut campaign in England. The Dutchman joined from NEC Nijmegen last summer for around £11.5 million and has become a key figure under Régis Le Bris.
Football Insider has previously said Sunderland would expect offers in excess of £50 million for Roefs, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City credited with interest in recent months.
