Tottenham ‘to eye’ Robin Roefs as Vicario replacement, with Verbruggen and Trafford options | OneFootball

Tottenham are assessing goalkeeper options ahead of the summer, with Sunderland’s Robin Roefs among targets as they consider a potential replacement for Guglielmo Vicario, according to TEAMtalk.

The Dutchman has been a standout for the Black Cats since a permanent move from NEC Nijmegen last summer. He has eight top flight clean sheets and the third-highest saves total in the division since his arrival at the Stadium of Light.

Spurs’ list also features his compatriot Bart Verbruggen of Brighton and Hove Albion and Manchester City understudy James Trafford. There is no clear favourite and the situation remains open.

Vicario is viewed as Juventus’ primary goalkeeping target towards the end of the campaign and is valued at around £26 million, a sum that would fit their budget.

Tottenham’s ability to act could hinge on survival. They are four points above the bottom three with 11 matches left, and relegation would likely take them out of any race for Roefs or the others.

Chelsea have also been linked with the 23-year-old, with a £50 million offer mooted. After Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Fulham, Roefs said he has heard nothing from his agents and is simply enjoying his first Premier League season.
