Tottenham remain in the market for a striker and are again being linked with Barcelona forward Torres, who could cost around €50m (£43m). According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are back in the frame as PSG and Atlético Madrid are also credited with interest.
Richarlison is expected to leave in the coming weeks and Dominic Solanke’s long-term fitness is a concern. An early focus on Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi faded, and he is now set to miss at least three months with a broken metatarsal.
Barcelona have offered the 26-year-old a new deal ahead of his contract expiring next summer, but it appears short of his salary demands. A renewal would reportedly trigger a near-£7m payment to Manchester City due to a clause in his original transfer.
If no extension is agreed, Barcelona are expected to seek about €50m, though their position could soften. There is no suggestion Spurs have made a bid, and the link remains speculative.
Torres can operate through the middle or out wide, which could suit Tottenham’s needs. He was inconsistent last season yet still produced, scoring 16 goals in 33 league games.
His preference appears to be to stay at the Camp Nou, and it is unclear whether improved terms will arrive. Spurs are assessing options and intend to add competition for Solanke before the deadline, so Torres may remain only one of several possibilities.
