Spurs bidding to end a difficult week on a high with victory in London derby

Tottenham are back in Premier League action this weekend, hosting Fulham in a London derby.

It’s a third game in the space of six days for Spurs and head coach Thomas Frank will be keen for his side to avoid a third consecutive defeat.

That said, Spurs did show considerable improvement in attack during the 5-3 loss to the Champions League holders and will be aiming to build on that as they seek a second win in seven across all competitions.

Fulham, meanwhile, make the short trip across the capital on the back of a 1-0 win over Sunderland last weekend as Marco Silva has steadied the ship following a run of four straight losses.

Tottenham will be without the suspended Cristian Romero after he picked up his fifth yellow card in the Premier League during the north London derby defeat.

As a result, Kevin Danso is likely to partner Micky van de Ven at the heart of Spurs’ defence with Frank expected to revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation having deployed a back five against Arsenal.

Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie are all pushing to start after coming off the bench in Paris, while Joao Palhinha could face his former club.

Dominic Solanke remains unavailable for selection.

The Cottagers are boosted by the return of midfielder Sasa Lukic after he missed the win over Sunderland through suspension. Rodrigo Muniz is a long-term absentee and Antonee Robinson is doubtful with a knee injury.

Samuel Chukwueze could be rewarded with a start after claiming the assist for Raul Jimenez’s winner last week, while ex-Arsenal stars Bernd Leno, Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe are expected to feature.

Spurs have struggled at home all season in the Premier League, winning just once in six attempts and that was on the opening weekend of the season against newly-promoted Burnley.

With that said, Fulham are yet to win away from home and have lost five of their six league matches on the road this season. All signs point towards a share of the spoils.
