Heavyweight fourth round fixture
Tottenham tonight host Manchester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has a proud record of winning a trophy in his second season at every club he’s managed but is certainly up against it here.
His side squeezed past Coventry 2-1 in the last round after a late comeback and are up against surely the most difficult opponent they could have been dealt.
While Pep Guardiola has confirmed he would rotate for this competition, the Man City boss boasts the kind of strength in depth few could imagine.
They beat Watford 2-1 in the third round and are favourites here.

It will be very interesting how both managers approach their team selections. Postecoglou has made no secret of wanting to win silverware as soon as possible, but his past lineups have suggested a willingness to gamble.
Heung-min Son has been ruled out of the game but Spurs expect him fit for the weekend’s clash with Aston Villa, while Wilson Odobert has suffered a setback after a recent hamstring injury.
Guardiola has already said he is prepared to play academy players in the game, given his squad’s injury issues and bigger priorities elsewhere. Even so, the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Nathan Ake, John Stones, Rico Lewis, Savinho and even Phil Foden could all start in north London. James McAtee should also get the nod as one of the younger starters.

Much will depend on how seriously both managers take the competition on their list of priorities but it’s difficult to look past City, who should still field a more-than-capable team to win despite the many expected changes.
If Spurs have any hopes of winning silverware this season, they will surely have to beat one of their top-six rivals and this may be their best chance to date.
