It wasn't pretty, but Tottenham Hotspur managed to squeeze past Coventry City and qualify for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The Lilywhites had shockingly gone behind at the Coventry Building Society Arena in the 63rd minute thanks to a goal from Brandon Thomas-Asante, before an 88th minute strike from Djed Spence and a 92nd minute goal from Brennan Johnson earned a late win.

Here's Tottenham's best players in the 2-1 victory, courtesy of 90min's esteemed player ratings.

Dejan Kulusevski: 7/10

He only played 15 minutes of the game, but it was by far the best 15 minute spell that Tottenham enjoyed at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The introduction of Kulusevski sparked Ange Postecoglou's side into life after going 1-0 behind, with the Swede's deft flicked pass around the corner setting up Spence's equaliser.

His movement off the ball caused Coventry a boatload of problems too.

Tottenham's worst player vs Coventry

Timo Werner: 4/10

Having failed to start any of Tottenham's four Premier League games thus far this season, Timo Werner was finally given a chance to impress from the off against Coventry City.

He didn't do it.

The German was utterly ineffective out on the left flank, failing to create a single chance for his teammates or have a single shot on goal himself during his 74 minutes on the pitch.

It was no surprise that Spurs looked like a much, much better team when he was replaced by Kulusevski.

Dominic Solanke: 4/10

When a team wins, we usually give an honourable mention in our 'best player' section of this article. However, thanks to how poor Spurs were on Wednesday against lower league opposition, we had to give a dishonourable mention in the 'worst player' section instead.

That dishonourable mention has gone to record signing Dominic Solanke.

Honestly, his poor performance wasn't even totally his fault. The forward did compete well at times but was ultimately completely starved of service throughout the game.
