Tottenham have confirmed that their Hungarian midfielder Anna Csiki has departed the club on a season long loan to AS Roma.

Csiki made history with Spurs during her brief time in the WSL.

Anna Csiki joins Roma

When she joined Tottenham in 2024, Anna Csiki was a complete unknown in England.

The Hungarian became the first player from her country to play in the WSL when she made her debut in September of 2024.

Life at Spurs didn’t get off to a fast start for the 26-year-old though and Csiki was loaned out to West Ham for the 2025-26 campaign.

Again on loan the midfielder struggled to make an impact. In the first six months of this season Csiki was handed just one start for the Hammers, with her five league appearances all coming off the bench.

As a result of her lack of minutes in the WSL, Tottenham decided to recall their star from loan.

With the North London side flying in all competitions this season it was no surprise to see Csiki depart the team once again.

Roma are also enjoying a fantastic season in Serie A Femminile and they currently sit top of the table after 12 games in the campaign.

Csiki will be hoping to gain some more minutes in Italy than she has accrued in England of late and there is a good chance she will be given more opportunities in an easier league.

Tottenham flying in WSL

Fans will be disappointed to see Csiki leave in the January window, but the Hungarian may get another opportunity at the end of this season.

Csiki is still contracted at Spurs until 2028 and if she performs in Italy the midfielder may be given another shot in the WSL.

Tottenham are cruising in the league this season and their squad has become very competitive.

Martin Ho’s side have already beaten their points tally from last year by six points – despite only being just past the halfway point in the season.

Tottenham could seriously challenge for Europe this season if they continue in their rich vein of form as there is currently just three points separating them from Chelsea in second.

The top three teams in the WSL earn a spot in the Champions League and Spurs will be hoping to make history with their first appearance in the Champions League next season.
