He was withdrawn at half-time after the blow and was still in significant pain on Friday morning on his return to the training centre. Players who faced the English side used the day for treatment.

Although featuring in Rennes looks unlikely, caution is needed given his reputation for playing through pain. He even wanted to resume in the second half despite struggling to walk, but the staff chose not to risk their captain and key player.
