Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Toulouse are in discussions with Standard Liege for the signing of talented young goalkeeper Matthieu Epolo. The 20-year-old has shown his ability so far this season with some eye catching saves, while also showing he still has plenty to learn with some frustrating mistakes. Last year the goalkeeper was in and out of the starting line up at times as then head coach Ivan Leko looked to protect the youngster from making too many mistakes. So far this season, he has started all six games for Standard Liege.
The Belgian youth international, who is also eligible for the DR Congo, now has a decision to make as to whether or not he moves to Ligue 1 or not. Toulouse have had a good start to the season with two wins and two clean sheets in their first two games of the Ligue 1 season, with a 6-3 defeat to PSG in the third matchday. The sides current goalkeeper is another 20-year-old in Guillaume Restes. The young French goalkeeper has been linked with a move away as well. Clearly, Toulouse could look to sign Epolo and loan him back to Standard Liege for the rest of the season until Restes is eventually bought by another club.
