James Trafford has won the fan vote for the Player of the Round in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

Our goalkeeper played both legs of the tie as we beat Newcastle 5-1 to reach the final.

We’ll now face Arsenal in the final at Wembley on Sunday 22 March, seeking our ninth League Cup triumph in our history.

“It’s great to be named Carabao Cup Player of the Round,” said Trafford.

“Individual awards are always nice, but they come from the work of the whole team — the lads in front of me were brilliant throughout both games and made my job a lot easier.

“We now focus on the final in a few weeks’ time. We’re all looking forward to the opportunity to go to Wembley and to try to win the trophy together.”

Trafford made six saves across the two legs, leading to a clean sheet at St James’ Park and keeping the Magpies at bay as they chased the game at the Etihad.
