An out-of-favour member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is ready to rebuff any and all interest in his signature this summer.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards David Alaba as the player in question.
Stopper Alaba is for his part sidelined long-term once more at present.
Owing to a series of setbacks and muscular problems in the aftermath of a serious knee injury suffered late in 2023, the Austrian has taken to the pitch just 14 times in the last 18 months.
He played no part in Real Madrid’s recently-completed Club World Cup campaign, in the process missing out on a chance to convince manager Xabi Alonso of his talents.
Such woes have in turn given rise to inevitable speculation, pointing towards a potential summer transfer for Alaba.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Saturday is anything to go by, then the 33-year-old has absolutely no intention of bringing a close to his stint at the Santiago Bernabéu.
As per a report from Marca:
‘The player is clear that he won’t leave this summer. There are no offers for him, and more importantly, he doesn’t want to leave Real Madrid like this. His desire is clear: to compete, perform, and, if the time comes, to say goodbye properly, on the pitch and in a leading role.’
