Liverpool are going through change and Trent Alexander-Arnold seems to be at the centre of everything once again.

When the Englishman exited Anfield last summer, it was unclear how much his departure would hinder the Reds.

Indeed, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes signed Jeremie Frimpong to try and plug the gap but, due to the injuries sustained by Conor Bradley and the Dutchman, Liverpool's right-back was a major problem area for them during most of the season.

The lack of creativity that the Anfield outfit had among their ranks also didn't help matters much which is why the club only just managed to scrape a fifth-place finish.

And, even though most fans probably thought that they'd be done hearing about Alexander-Arnold, it seems like he's made his way into the frame at Liverpool once again.

Chris Dowling is set to join Tyler Alexander-Arnold's agency

Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool's Head of Academy Recruitment, Chris Dowling, is set to join Tyler Alexander-Arnold's agency, Gersh, ahead of his Liverpool departure.

Dowling has played an integral role in the growth of the Reds' academy over the last couple of years and his departure is seen as a big loss for Liverpool.

Anfield Watch also understands that he played a big role in recruiting Rio Ngumoha and Will Wright with the head of academy recruitment even still negotiating deals with key academy players earlier this month.

Matt Newberry is in line to temporarily take over that side of things with Julian Ward also offering a helping hand when needed.

Earlier in the summer, Ward was involved in the negotiation of Joshua Abe's new deal and is also heavily involved with the goings on at Liverpool's academy.

One of the main things that Liverpool are known for is how good their academy is.

They've developed some of the Premier League's best players with Steven Gerrard arguably the pick of the bunch.

At the moment, they currently have two academy graduates within their regular first-team squad in Bradley and Curtis Jones.

However, now that Andoni Iraola is at the helm, Trey Nyoni, Abe and potentially even Owen Beck could all become regular features.

A lot of the Reds' academy talent have come from their own development but, as mentioned, others such as Ngumoha, Wright and Kieran Morrison were all taken from other teams.

So, without Liverpool having a new permanent head of academy recruitment in place, it feels like they could fall behind their rivals and potentially miss out on some rather decent deals.

Of course, backroom staff move around all the time but, the fact that Dowling has chosen to reunite with Alexander-Arnold at his brothers agency does sting a little, especially since the Englishman was on course to become one of Liverpool's best-ever players if he stayed put for just a little longer.
