Trevoh Chalobah believes Liam Rosenior’s game plan against Arsenal worked despite Chelsea losing 1-0 at The Emirates.
The Blues were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the semi final stage after a 4-2 defeat on aggregate over two legs.
Chelsea trailed 3-2 from the first leg and simply couldn’t find the breakthrough needed, and struggled to create any meaningful chances over the 90 minutes.
Rosenior sprung somewhat of a surprise as he fielded a back five, despite heading into the game knowing the Blues had to score at least once.
Reece James was left out of the squad completely, whilst Cole Palmer and Estevao were named among the substitutes.

Chalobah formed part of the back three with Wesley Fofana and Jorrel Hato, and the Blues defended well throughout the game.
Pundits were confused by Chelsea’s approach, but Chalobah has claimed their game plan did actually work as he revealed his thoughts.
“For us, we just go into the game knowing what the manager wanted,” he told Sky Sports.
“In terms of, there’s no rush, we have a full 90 minutes to try and get into the game.
“We came in no rush, no pressure. I thought the boys done well, stuck to the gameplan, were pushing towards the end but it didn’t work out.
“We have to keep our heads up and don’t allow this to affect us, and keep up our good form.”
Chalobah was then asked if he felt the game plan worked and replied: “I think most definitely.”
In a cup semi final most supporters would imagine Palmer to be in the starting line-up, but that wasn’t the case, and Neville was surprised by Rosenior’s comments.

The Sky pundit claimed it was “unusual” for a manager to speak like that, when he stated he was waiting to use Palmer as a super sub in the second half.
The 23-year-old didn’t have much of an impact on the game, and it will be interesting if he starts against Wolves on Saturday.
