Trinity Rodman has signed a new contract with Washington Spirit that has made her the highest-paid women's footballer in the world.
There was plenty of speculation in recent months over the future of the 23-year-old with strong interest from clubs in Europe especially when her contract expired at the end of 2025. However, Washington Spirit – owned by London City Lionesses owner Michele Kang – have managed to hold on to their star player.
"It feels amazing. I’m very happy, I’m very blessed," Rodman said about her new deal that puts her ahead of Aitana Bonmatí as the highest-paid player in women's football.
"I think it’s a monumental and game-changing moment. Everyone is going to have their opinions on it – but I’ve never really cared.
"Going into the off-season [someone asked me], ‘Do you feel like you’re finished with Spirit?’ and I didn’t even need half a second to answer, I was like, ‘no’. There’s so much more that I have to give."
Last season Rodman played 17 times in the NWSL for the Spirit, scoring five times and making two assists.
