Tunisia heads towards North America for the FIFA World Cup this summer, hoping to finally break through the group stage barrier that has eluded them throughout their entire World Cup history.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side delivered a remarkable qualifying campaign, winning nine of their ten matches in CAF Group H without conceding a single goal — a record that no team in World Cup history had ever achieved across a full qualifying campaign.

The Eagles of Carthage sealed their place at the tournament with a dramatic late 1-0 win away to Equatorial Guinea, with Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane striking in the 90th minute to confirm their spot.

This will be Tunisia’s seventh appearance at the FIFA World Cup, having previously qualified in 1978, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2018 and 2022.

At the last edition in Qatar in 2022, they produced one of the tournament’s greatest upsets by defeating world champions France 1-0, yet still failed to advance from the group stage.

Going into 2026, the objective is clear — to finally progress to the knockout rounds for the first time in their history.

Tunisia, along with the Netherlands, Japan and Sweden, are drawn together in Group F.
