Will Osula almost joined Eintracht Frankfurt on deadline day.
However, the summer transfer window ended with the Danish striker still with Newcastle United.
A transfer fee totalling close to £30m had been reportedly agreed but at the last minute the German club wanted to make the deal an initial loan, which Newcastle United weren’t prepared to go through with.
Eddie Howe has since said that he was relieved the Will Osula move didn’t happen in the end, especially with Yoane Wissa picking up such a bad injury before even getting a chance to play for United.
The news form Germany though is that the January transfer window will see another attempt to take Will Osula to Germany.
Sport Bild have now reported that there are now two Bundesliga clubs that are hoping to sign the 22 year old.
As well as Eintracht Frankfurt still hoping to sign the United striker, the German media outlet say that their information is that Stuttgart are also interested.
Newcastle United of course signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart at the end of the summer transfer window and whilst they have made an excellent start to the season, Stuttgart are struggling for goals. They are fourth in the Bundlesliga but have only scored 14 goals in nine league games, less goals than any other club in the top eight of the table.
Interesting to see what happens with Will Osula in January. If both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa are fully fit and in form, then the Danish striker will likely find himself with few opportunities. Would Newcastle United consider selling then, if the right kind of offer was made that would help them sign any target(s) f their own, or even maybe allow Will Osula to go out on loan to get more first team football to help his development?
