Liverpool are making big changes to their frontline this summer.
One-v-one quality out wide is seen as a priority - with no shortage of top names linked with an Anfield move.
Yan Diomande is reportedly top of the list with the RB Leipzig winger valued at around €100m. Then there’s Bradley Barcola and Francisco Trincao - two other big-name players set to be made available by their respective clubs this summer.
One of the reasons Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola require more wingers is departures. Mohamed Salah is out of contract come June 30 - and set for a lucrative free transfer elsewhere.
His exit will leave a starting spot on the right wing and he is set to be joined in the departure lounge by Federico Chiesa.
The Italian, 28, joined Liverpool back in 2024 but struggled to impose himself on Arne Slot’s plans. The Azzurri international has only ever been a fringe player for the Merseyside side - with a contract extending until 2028.
Liverpool are preparing to listen to offers for the forward during the off-season - with a return to Serie A looming into view.
A report in Caught Offside claims that two Champions League participants in Como and Napoli are leading the way for the winger.
“There are clubs looking into bringing Chiesa back to Italy, with my understanding being that the strongest interest at the moment is coming from Napoli and Como,” the report reads.
Liverpool paid a fee that could reach £12.5m for the former Juventus talent - who was a winner at Euro 2020 with his country.
However there is no intention to let Chiesa go on the cheap with Hughes now holding out for a fee of €20m according to the report.
“Liverpool will likely ask for around €20m to let Chiesa go, but it’s not yet clear if interested clubs will be prepared to pay that kind of money,” the report reads.
“They might explore the possibility of signing him on loan at first. Liverpool’s preference is a permanent sale, but let’s see if they’re open to discussing a loan with an obligation.”
Chiesa was very much a fringe man under Slot - starting only two Premier League games last season under the Dutchman.
He may well have been hoping for a fresh start under Iraola - but admitted last week in an interview with the Italian media that a return to his home country was on the cards.
