Thomas Tuchel will be without three stars just days after naming his latest squad
The duo have withdrawn from Thomas Tuchel's latest squad, named on Friday, due to injuries.
Anthony Gordon missed Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Brentford with a hip injury, and then Pope suffered a concussion during the game and was replaced by Aaron Ramsdale.
It is a particular blow for Pope, who on Friday earned his first call-up in a year as is running out of time to impress Tuchel ahead of next summer's World Cup.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said after the game: "Nick Pope suffered concussion and that's why we took him off. As soon as we were made aware he was withdrawn.
"Anthony Gordon is a minor injury so he will miss England. That's it."
The double blow follows an injury to Marc Guehi, who will also sit out England's final two World Cup qualifying games after suffering a foot injury.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner has revealed Guehi “can't even walk” after sustaining “a heavy bone bruise” in their 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.
“Overnight he couldn't sleep, it was so painful and the next day we assessed him and it was a heavy bone bruise," Glasner told Sky Sports.
“He was walking on crutches the last two days and couldn't even step on his foot. “Fortunately nothing is broken, but at the moment he can't even walk. It looks like he will miss England's games, but after, maybe in 10-14 days hopefully he can return to training and be available again."
England, who have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup, face Serbia at Wembley on Thursday before playing Albania in Tirana next Sunday.
Players are due to report for England duty on Monday, with replacements expected to be named.
