Tyson Fury and Zlatan Ibrahimović are reportedly exploring a move to buy Morecambe, with a behind-the-scenes series inspired by Ryan Reynolds and Wrexham.
The Sun on Sunday reports the pair are eyeing a takeover of the non-league club and a Netflix documentary titled Rise of Morecambe.
The project is said to mirror Welcome to Wrexham, which followed Reynolds and Rob McElhenney after they bought the club in 2021. Fury and Ibrahimović were pictured together in Warsaw this week while filming a World Cup advertisement.
The duo have been friends for years, with Ibrahimović previously training alongside Fury in Manchester.
Fury already has close ties to Morecambe, basing his training gym at the Mazuma Stadium since 2020. The two-storey facility also serves as headquarters for the Tyson Fury Foundation.
Wrexham’s Hollywood-backed rise has sparked huge interest across football. The club have won three promotions in quick succession and built a global audience via a Disney+ series.
The proposed Morecambe project would attempt to echo that formula with two of sport’s biggest personalities at the forefront. Fury appeared to hint at big news with a photo beside his private jet this week. Ibrahimović, who retired in 2023 after spells with AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, is preparing to work as a pundit during this summer’s World Cup coverage in the United States.
