Leeds United Under-21s return to Premier League 2 action on Friday afternoon, facing Chelsea Under-21s at Cobham Training Centre outside London, two weeks after they fell to defeat against a strong Manchester City Under-21s side.

In their last two away journeys, the Whites were beaten by City and Liverpool, though United led for much of the latter fixture thanks to Marley Wilson’s goal, losing only to a controversial stoppage time penalty.

Leeds’ most recent league victory came over Reading by two goals to nil, with Harry Gray and Rhys Chadwick both netting on a cold January afternoon in Berkshire.

The Whites currently sit 22nd in the congested PL2 standings with 14 points from their opening 13 encounters, while the hosts are second, having won three times on the bounce.

That run includes a 5-0 triumph against Blackburn Rovers at Kingsmeadow last time out after victories over Southampton on home soil and Leicester City on the road.

The teams last met just over a year ago, as the Whites were held to a 1-1 draw in the capital despite an impressive Max McFadden volley for Scott Gardner’s team.

Action from Cobham Training Centre gets underway at 1pm.
