Udinese are now leading the race to sign Hajduk Split youngster Branimir Mlacic after a potential move to Inter failed to materialise.
The situation has shifted quickly, with the Friulian club moving into advanced talks.
Hajduk Split coach Gonzalo Garcia confirmed that the defender missed the recent match against Gorica due to ongoing transfer discussions.
That absence effectively signalled that negotiations with Inter had cooled, opening the door for other suitors.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Udinese are close to reaching an agreement with Hajduk for the 2007-born centre-back.

The two clubs are working on the final details to complete the deal, with confidence growing that an understanding will soon be reached.
Mlacic is considered one of the more promising young defenders in the Croatian system.
His development at Hajduk had attracted interest from Inter earlier in the window, but that track has now stalled.
After a deal was essentially agreed, the player switched agents and from there, the move collapsed.
Therefore Inter appear to have shifted their focus elsewhere, allowing Udinese to step in and push the transfer toward completion.
