After a prolonged period of strained relations, UEFA and Real Madrid are set to take a significant step towards reconciliation — and the timing could not be more symbolic.
According to recent reports from AS, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin will be present at the Santiago Bernabeu for the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
More importantly, he will be seated alongside Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in the VIP box.
The outlet mentions that joining them will be Rafael Louzan, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
For years, tensions between UEFA and Real Madrid have dominated headlines, particularly in the aftermath of the controversial Super League project.
Disagreements over governance, competition structure, and the future of European football created a visible divide between the two sides.
However, this upcoming meeting will be more than just a routine appearance, although their mere appearance together will be a show of mutual understanding.

Both parties are understood to have recognised that repairing their relationship required more than official statements, which is why their presence was necessary.
And there could hardly be a more fitting backdrop than the Santiago Bernabeu on a Champions League night.
With the Super League saga now officially behind them, stakeholders appear on the same page in their desire to improve existing structures rather than challenge them from outside.
Importantly, this is not being framed as a victory for one side over another.
Instead, it represents a shared understanding that European football must evolve collectively.
At the Bernabeu, there will be no winners or losers off the pitch, only a renewed commitment to unity and progress.
And in many ways, that may prove to be just as significant as the result of the match itself for Real Madrid.
